Editor’s note: The following information was provided to the Stentor by Student Government President Grace Verb ’22. The Stentor is providing space to Student Government to share updates and statements with the student body.
We in the Lake Forest College Student Government have had a very eventful time preparing for the semester and many changes have been made.
First and foremost, we have completely restructured how the committees will work as well as what committees are available. Under normal conditions there are several committees that function in Student Government, said committees are: Class Committee, Residents Hall Associate Committee, Campus Affairs Committee, Clubs and Organization Committee, and Grounds and Development Committee. This semester we are doing something different and we are suspending certain previous committees that are no longer applicable. We are keeping the Campus Affairs Committee and Clubs and Organizations Committee. These committees serve to improve campus life for all students.
The second largest change is the creation of the Club Council. We decided to create an organization that focuses on collaboration amongst the clubs to foster a dialogue among the College community. The goal of this organization is to discuss and have seminars on topics like leadership, recruiting, running an effective executive board, as well as invite faculty and staff speakers.
The new Senate semester will be starting soon and we are all very excited to get back in the saddle and ride again. If you wish to join Student Government, feel free to send a letter of intent to President Grace Verb.
