With Lake Forest’s fall sports now in full swing in their conference competitions, it is a great time to wrap up previewing the College’s fall athletic programs. Just like the first half of the preview which was published last issue, the remainder of Lake Forest’s fall athletic teams will have their upcoming seasons previewed here. All team’s seasons have officially begun, and most are now in conference play, so please note their schedules and results having overlapped the date of this article. Additionally, this information and more is located on goforesters.com. If you missed the first part of this preview, feel free to catch up with an online copy on the Stentor website, or with a physical copy available across campus.

Women’s Tennis

The women’s tennis team has continued last year’s high standards for competitiveness and a winning mentality, and specifically this year they have been on an absolute tear against their fellow MWC teams. They are currently sitting on a winning streak of four, having won five out of the last six matches, and having qualified for the end-of-season conference tournament. We wish the women’s team plenty of luck as they near the tail end of their season and hope that those winning streaks do not plan on dying out anytime soon!

Women’s Golf

With the SLIAC Championship Tournament underway as I am currently typing this article, it was a great fall season for the women’s golf program, finishing in first place at two of their invitationals alongside several other high placements. It should be noted too that the Foresters did not place below third in four consecutive invitationals. The women’s team once again showed how talented they were at every invite they attended, so with the championship tournament getting underway there is no reason this team would not be competing for first place (again). Good luck in Springfield, ladies!

Men’s Golf

For their fall season, the men’s golf program stood above many other programs by consistently placing around eighth or higher at almost every single outing they had. This is very impressive considering most placements were several legged ties typically getting up to fourth or third place against some very good golfers. With this consistency and a long off-season up ahead, the men’s golf program has all the tools and time to build something special here in the Forest. With plenty of time to hone their game before the SLIAC Championship Tournament in April, do not be shocked if this team brings home some silverware alongside the now—unfortunately very far away—warmer weather.

Cross Country

With only two invitationals remaining before the men and women’s cross-country teams embark on the MWC championship meet, these programs just have to keep putting in their best work and giving it all they have to chase after some conference silverware. Unfortunately, after that, the XC team must go to the NCAA Division III regional meet, followed up by the NCAA Division III championship meet. With a schedule that seems never-ending, we hope the Foresters can make it back to campus with some medals around their necks!

Closing Thoughts

With the cold weather closing in quick, fall sports here at the College will be over before we know it. This concludes the Forester fall sports preview. Do not forget to cheer on your fellow students as they wrap up their seasons and are chasing some conference trophies! With that, thank you for reading and go Foresters!
