Every spring break, some of the Lake Forest College spring athletic teams travel south to play their respective sport in the warm weather.

This year, Lake Forest’s very own tennis and golf teams traveled to Kissimmee, Florida. Both the men’s and women’s golf teams were approximately a half hour from where the tennis teams stayed, so they decided to come support one of the women’s tennis matches against Juniata College.

Once the golf teams arrived, the atmosphere was filled with support for LFC. The golf teams truly represented LFC spirit and pride.

Regarding results, the men’s tennis team played a total of four matches, which they split. They won against Juniata College and Wittenberg Univerity but lost against Ursinus College and Oglethorpe College. The women’s tennis team had the same split results.

“Spring break is our best trip of the year, mainly because it gives us the most opportunity to bond and really grow together as a team,” said Christi Valicenti ’16.

Ricky Schmidt ’19 of the men’s golf team, believes that spring golf provided a great opportunity to practice. “Spring break was a lot of fun, and we got a lot of good work in. It was nice to be able to play and practice before the season starts.”

Michelle Ricolcol ’16 of the women’s golf team believed that the spring trip brought out the best in Forester support.  “Being able to go to Florida for our first training trip as a team was an amazing experience especially for only being in our second year as a varsity program. We played [on] beautiful courses and got a lot better as golfers. Being able to watch our women’s tennis team compete while we were both in Florida was fun since most of us golfers had not seen a tennis match before. But to be able to support other Foresters was so much fun.”

Women’s Golf won against Eckerd College’s Division II golf program in Florida, and Men’s Golf against Eckerd College were separated into two teams for their twelve players. Eckerd’s total score was 306, while Lake Forest Black had a score of 348, and Red at 349.

This spring break trip proved to be a great start for Lake Forest College’s spring teams.
