During homecoming, the women’s soccer team faced off against conference rivals Knox College, ultimately winning the match. The team, led by captains Anna Hoffman ’26 and Theresa Presberg ’25, has shown plenty of impressive performances so far this fall and seeks to continue their momentum on the field.
With a packed homecoming crowd, the Foresters earned a commanding 2-0 win over Knox. The match started off with a goal from Izzy Destefano ’26, who capitalized on a perfectly timed ball from Riley Henrich ’28. The team maintained their strong momentum, playing excellent defense throughout the whole match, which completely stifled Knox’s offensive efforts and made it impossible for them to even come close to scoring. The team’s cohesive play and pressure on both ends of the field were key to their success. This victory not only boosted the team’s confidence but also fired up the homecoming crowd, adding to the excitement and pride of the weekend’s celebrations.
Krissy Kuwahara ‘25, one of the program’s center-backs, reflected on her team’s performance, emphasizing their approach to both the defensive and offensive ends of the game.
“I think we did a good job switching the field and distributing the ball to the offense, and also making sure we get another conference shut out,” Kuwashara said.
Later in the match, Hoffman scored the team’s second goal, putting the Foresters up 2-0 after she got on the end of a corner kick played in by Theresa Presberg.
“I thought everyone did a really good job executing their role this weekend, which helped our offense be successful,” said Hoffman when reflecting on the team’s attacking play. “Our defense was strong and midfield was just connecting really well which created a lot of chances for our offensive. I feel like we are connecting more and improving as a team every game.”
The women’s soccer team has had a very strong season so far, now advancing to a record of 9-2-3, with the aim of pushing for regular-season and MWC Conference Tournament titles. Their tactical emphasis on fast play while also keeping control of the ball helps them create chances to score while not exposing their ability to defend well. With strong teamwork and reliable leadership, the team is ready for a successful playoff run, especially after a big homecoming win over Knox College.
