Mitski + Fear of Men + Weaves. Mitski Miyawaki’s 2014 release Bury Me at Makeout Creek transitioned from orchestral avant-pop to indie rock, a transformation that highlighted her lyricism. Her latest release, Puberty 2, is another collection of dreamy ballads that explore deeply personal topics. At this concert, there will also be the English dream-pop act, Fear of Men, and the Toronto rockers, Weaves. Come to see the three of them at Thalia Hall, 1807 S. Allport Street in Chicago, on Saturday, November 5. Tickets start at $18.
S U R V I V E is a Texas-based quartet. Band members Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein provided the eerie instrumental for the popular Netflix series Stranger Things, and these compositions are reminiscent of the dark, analog melodies that populate the group’s latest album, RR7349. Caspian + The Appleseed Cast. The members of Kansas post-rockers band Caspian decided to form a band after being extremely impressed by a copy of the Appleseed Casts’ 2001 release Low Level Owl. The pair of like-minded acts has teamed up for a co-headlining tour characterized by waves of distortion and cathartic instrumental breakdowns.
Band of Horses. This band has gone from indie underdogs to Americana-tinged rock radio mainstays. Come watch them trying to succeed at balancing these two out at Aragon Ballroom, 1106 W. Lawrence in Chicago on Wednesday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $38 and up.
Seu Jorge. This Brazilian singer and actor is best known for his role in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) by Wes Anderson. Allport Street in Chicago, on Thursday, November 17. Tickets start at $35.
