Senior women’s hockey player Annie Dalton ’21 was named a Krampade All American Scholar for the third consecutive year by the American Hockey Coaches Association for the Spring of 2020. One of 20 Lake Forest College students to make the list of scholars, Dalton was the only female player to make it for the third consecutive year.

Although COVID-19 put a wrench in the semester, the association altered their criteria to reflect the academic standards of a non-traditional semester. Dalton participated in at least 40 percent of her team’s games and achieved a minimum of a 3.75 GPA to make the list. Stentor staff interviewed Dalton about her experiences playing hockey at Lake Forest College, as well as her plans for life after college.

What is your hometown?

Elk River, Minnesota.

What are your areas of study?

Double major in Economics and Spanish with a minor in International Relations.

Have you completed/participated in any internships?

I am currently interning with a non-profit organization called Waukegan to College whose mission is to support students in the Waukegan school district on their journey to college. We have students join the program as young as 5th grade.

How long have you been playing hockey?

I have been playing hockey for 14 years!

What encouraged you to play hockey for Lake Forest College?

I wanted to play hockey at Lake Forest College because all the girls on the team were very welcoming and kind. I also loved the campus, and the staff and professors are so helpful and caring.

What are your plans for after school?

I am hoping to get a job in finance or the nonprofit sector and then go to grad school, eventually.

What is your dream job within your field of study?

I would love to start my own nonprofit organization and/or become an economic researcher.

What is your favorite part of being on the hockey team?

My favorite part of being on the hockey team is getting to spend so much time with all my best friends.

If you could experience one thing about playing hockey at the College again, what would it be?

I would choose to have another outdoor game with my teammates. During my freshman year, we played against Aurora [University] at the Winter Club. It was a really fun experience and is one of my favorite hockey memories.
