The Lake Forest track and field team made history as both the men’s and women’s 4×200 relay teams shattered previous school records, cutting multiple seconds off their respective times. This impressive showing showcased the speed and determination of these Forester athletes.

On the men’s side, the Forester track team was represented by Trentyn Tyson, Alex Pavlov, Shuntaro Nakamura, and Mathew Lungu who all delivered a phenomenal performance, blazing past the previous record. Their teamwork, execution, and  speed propelled them to a new milestone, setting a standard that will be tough to beat. The squad clocked in at 1:34.73, a massive improvement from the previous record of 1:38.00 which was set in 2020, This exceeded the record by a gap of 3.27 seconds.

The women’s team, featuring Farah Tawfik, Andrea Fernandez, AJ Jones, and Zahra Tait, was equally electrifying. Their coordination and bursts of energy led to an incredible new record for the Lake Forest’s women’s squad. They finished with a time of 1:54.76, improving on the previous record of 1:56.72 by nearly 2 seconds, which is a significant margin in such a fast-paced contest.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the substantial improvement in time. Cutting multiple seconds off a relay record is no small feat, especially in an event where milliseconds matter. Such an improvement reflects not only the individual growth of these athletes but also the team as a collective.

Senior, Trentyn Tyson, a key member of the record-breaking men’s team said “Yeah, it was really cool being able to be a part of that time and be a part of the record books.”

Tyson said ’Hopefully, we can post some good times at conference and in the outdoor season and keep it going.” Their next challenge awaits at the Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Monmouth, IL, from February 28 to March 1, where they will look to build on their momentum and compete against top talent across the Midwest conference. As the season progresses into the outdoor track season, these athletes will undoubtedly set their sights on even greater achievements.

With a strong showing, the Lake Forest relay teams are poised to be fierce competitors in upcoming meets. If their latest performance is any indication, there’s no limit to what they can accomplish next.
